To become a member the applicant needs to be a professional artist having a permanent address in Tampere region. Applicant also needs to get two points to become a member.
The first point can be acquired by
– full membership in a trade union under Finnish Artists’ Association,
– graduation from an art school, which meets the requirements of Tampere Artists’ Association,
– participation within last 10 years in a prominent national exhibition (accepted by the Board of Tampere Artists’ Association), or
– getting a reward in a prominent art competition.
If you are a member of any of the trade unions under Finnish Artists’ Association, it is not necessary to include a copy of your graduation certificate.
The art education required for the membership is the graduation from an art school providing professional art education of at least 3,5-4 years, e.g. art academies, polytechnics providing education in BA-level. If the applicant has graduated from a foreign art institution, he/she needs to provide an account of the equivalence of this education with the similar Finnish education.
The second required point is given to the applicant on the basis of his/her artistic activity, as is shown in the CV, and of pictures included in the application. The Board can, in special cases, accept the applicant without formal criteria, if the applicant can provide solid demonstration of his/her competence as an artist.
